We treat North African craft as inspiration, not costume. Here's how we think about sourcing, honesty and respect.
Honest descriptions
We describe our products as they are: decorative homeware inspired by Moroccan and North African craft traditions. We do not label machine-made items as hand-made, and we don't overstate provenance. If a piece is hand-finished, we say so; if it's inspired-by, we say that too.
Abstract motifs only
Our designs use abstract, geometric and public-domain motifs. We deliberately avoid religious symbols and the specific ceremonial or tribal symbols of any particular community, so that our products remain a respectful, purely decorative aesthetic.
Working with makers
We favour small-batch production and long-term relationships with the workshops and suppliers we partner with, and we expect fair, safe working conditions throughout our supply chain. We continue to deepen this work as we grow.
Tell us if we get it wrong
If you ever feel a description or design misrepresents a craft or community, we want to hear it. Email support@almayarhome.shop and we'll review it seriously.
